GALE SMITH
Gale has found a new interest in working with copper. As a plein aire painter, she began using copper panels as her canvas and loved how the copper made her colors warm and vibrant. She experimented with different gauges of copper and mediums and discovered that inks and oils on copper made colors radiate vibrantly. Never quite sure where the colors and copper will take her; she paints, cuts and weaves two abstract paintings together to create a dimensional piece or art. The soft gentle curves that she cuts into the copper, allows her to form the piece into soothing and thought-provoking structural designs. Gale donates a portion of the proceeds from her sales to various organizations and charities.

LIN FRYE
An avid watercolorist, Frye loves the spontaneous and fresh approach of ink and wash. A trained ethnobotanist (one who studies the relationships of people and plants), Frye teaches watercolor classes and is a board member of the Cape Fear Sketchers. PETE LUPO
Sculpting since 1983, Pete brings an intimate knowledge of wildlife, their habitat and their interaction with mankind. Growing up around his grandparents' farms in rural southeastern North Carolina, he was rewarded with an awareness of the simple things of life. How a change in light can reveal color and form in everyday objects that so often go unnoticed, learning along the way that sometimes we must slow down in order to really see.
Working primarily in Tupelo or Basswood, he carves wildlife and man-made objects in a realistic style. Each component of a composition is carved entirely out of wood, then copper or brass sheets are hand-cut and shaped into flowers, leaves or grasses. He completes the process by applying multiple thin washes of acrylic paint to bring the piece to life. Each finished piece captures a moment of coexistence between beings.
